Locals may know exactly what you are talking about when you describe the area called the "Narrows" on the Salt River. It is a fabulous fishing area popular with the fly fisherman or bait fisherman enthusiast. It's a popular local floating area for friends and family renting tubes and other floating devices. Recreation isn't as common on the lower half of the river but some still seem to venture and float for miles. It's not quite as deep in some areas that it is in the upper half of the river south of the Auburn Bridge turn off. This is now a newly designated Scenic Byway in our beautiful state of Wyoming located on Highway 89. This is the area of highway 89 that was cut through the mountain to access upper and lower valley. The narrows typically divides the upper valley from the lower valley in theory but we all claim to be Star Valleyites. So if you hear people talking about the "Narrows" area on Highway 89 just remember it is possibly the most beautiful scenic area of Star Valley when it comes to the river but that's all relative depending who you talk too.
